I established Shadowcat Films in 2008 and have since made several feature length documentaries and short films. I have also worked on many individual commissions for organisations, with an ever expanding base of new clients.
I enjoy storytelling and making films with which the audience can engage and enjoy. Shadowcat Films has always got a documentary project on the go, and I’m always interested to hear new stories.
I’m very committed to getting films out there and to enabling them to reach a diverse audience. ‘To the Border Bred’, for example, has been sold on DVD to over 55 countries worldwide through a targeted social media sales strategy. This has enabled people all over the world to enjoy a story which originates in the Borders. Previous films have also been sold across the UK, including in the Tate Britain, and online videos have stacked up 100,000s of views.
I have spent the last few years building up a trusted and talented base of crew who bring their own creativity and flair to Shadowcat Films. These include lighting cameramen, musicians and professional actors. I’m equally happy bringing together a crew to make one of my own films, as I am being part of another team. You might find me working within Shadowcat Films managing every aspect of the production process or working with another production company, as part of a larger crew creating factual television.
I also work as a freelance Assistant Producer and previous broadcast credits include Casualty 24/7, Animal Ambulance, Robson Green’s Tales from Northumberland, David Jason: My Life on Screen, The Comedy Years and Made in Yorkshire with John Prescott.
Whatever the project I am working on, my commitment, passion, and dedication remains the same. A key skill of mine is to be able to forge connections with potential contributors based on trust and integrity, which I consider to be invaluable across all the work I do. I particularly enjoy working with real people who have real stories to tell, as well as working with organisations, securing access and getting stories out there.
I’m based in the North, but have worked all over the country, from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands. Regardless of the project you’re working on, I’d love to hear from you!
